FAQ

Here are the answers to some of our most popular questions.

Why should I hire a professional?

Professional pet sitters are truly professional. Having friends, family, or neighbors care for your pets may seem logical, yet PAWSitive Petsitting Pet Sitters have the necessary experience to care for your animals and respond to a crisis. Our highest priority is to provide exceptional care for your pets and your home.

How do I get started with PAWSitive Petsitting Services?

The first thing you need to do is Contact Us. We will then contact you to set up your free initial interview to meet you and your pets.

Is my personal information on the service agreement kept confidential?

Yes! We do not disclose any client information to any third parties. All service agreements are kept at the PAWSitive Petsitting Services home office. Only the owners or the designated pet sitter will have access to your personal information.

Will I have the same pet sitter each time?

While we try to have the same sitter take care of your home and pets each time, there may be times when the sitter may not be available. A fully trained and informed substitute sitter will always be ready as a back-up, and you will be notified.

How much notice do you need for a cancellation?

If you have made a reservation for pet sitting and have to cancel, we require at least a two-day notice. No cancellation fee will be applied within the timeframe. Yet, if you cancel your reservation with less than a two-day notice, you will be charged a $15.00 cancellation fee. We do understand that emergencies arise, so we will consider the situation individually.

How far in advance do I need to reserve for services?

If you are a new client, please call us early. We must schedule an initial consultation before we start services, and a two-week advance notice is preferred. If you are a current client, a one-week advance notice is sufficient. Yet, if holiday services are needed, please contact us or request service on our website as soon as possible. Holidays book quickly so please book early!

Why do I need to call the office to make schedule changes instead of just telling my sitter?

All reservations or changes to reservations must be made through the website, email or by calling the office. Please do not contact your sitter directly. They cannot make or change reservations. Additionally, you will not be covered by our insurance if you are not on our schedule.

Do you take “last-minute” reservations?

Only if you are a current PAWSitive Petsitting Services client, and we already have your key along with a completed and signed service agreement. There is a small charge of $10.00 if you provide less than a two-day notice (48 hours). We do understand that emergencies arise, so if we do have the time, we will make every effort to accommodate you in those special situations.

What kind of animals do you care for?

We care for all animals big and small, dogs, cats, horses, alpacas and critters of all shapes, sizes and degrees of furriness.

How do you choose the Pet Sitters that you hire?

Our first priority is the safety and security of our clients, their pets and property. Our staff undergo an extensive screening process before they are hired, including several interviews, reference checks and felony background history checks. All employees are required to complete a pet first aid class.

Do you administer medication to pets?

We will administer vet prescribed medication – pills, drops, and injections at no extra charge. We will not administer medication to any animal that poses a danger to our staff.

Can I hire my Pet Sitter directly?

NO! Please do not place our employees in the uncomfortable position of offering them employment apart from PAWSitive Petsitting Services. Our sitters are contractually prohibited from soliciting or accepting employment directly from a PAWSitive Petsitting Services client.

What if my property or pet is damaged while I am gone?

We agree to provide the services in our service agreement in a reliable, caring and trustworthy manner. Yet, PAWSitive Petsitting Services is only liable for claims arising from negligence or willful misconduct. Due to the extreme unpredictability of animals, we cannot accept responsibility for unusual mishaps (i.e. bitings, furniture damage, spills, pet stains, water stains that are due to the actions of pets, etc.). Also, if your pets have access to the outside, we are NOT responsible for injury, disappearance, or fines.

How am I billed, and when is it due?

Payment is expected to be left at the beginning of the pet sitting reservation, you may be subject to a late fee if payment is not made at that time. We accept checks, cash, and credit cards (VS, MC, AMEX, and DISC). No post-dated checks accepted. Additional charges apply for holidays and unforeseen emergencies. NSF Check Fee $30 – no exceptions.

What do you do in case of an emergency?

It depends on the type of emergency. If an emergency occurs with your regular sitter, we provide a backup sitter. If an emergency occurs with your pets, we will first contact your vet and transport them if necessary. You will then be contacted about the situation. If there is an emergency with your home, we will call you, emergency contacts, authorities, or a preferred repair service.

May I give my Pet Sitter a tip?

Yes. You can add a tip to the payment in the check, notify the office to add a tip amount to the credit card charge or leave extra cash for your sitter.

Do you have references?

Yes. References are available upon request.

We love your services and I have referred you to friends and family. Do you offer a referral discount?

Absolutely. The best compliment we can receive is for you to refer your friends and family to us. As a thank you, current clients can receive a free 30-minute visit by referring a new client to us that signs up for our services.
